DOWNLOADING AND USING ZOOM
1. Open your usual internet browser - Google, Foxfire, Edge, Microsoft Explorer or whatever you use to get on the internet.
2. At the top of your browser type in the address for Zoom. https://zoom.us
3. Select under Zoom.us the words
Zoom: Video Conferencing, Web Conferencing, Webinars ...
4. Once you are on the Zoom site go to the far right and select the orange button that says "Sign Up, It's Free"
5. You will be asked to put in your birthdate month, day and year using the dropdown arrow in each box and then select "continue."
6. Type in your home email address where it says 'Your Work Email Address," and select continue.
7. Zoom will send you a confirmation email to that email address that you put in.
8. Go to your email and open that email from Zoom and select the link or the blue box to activate your account.
9. Answer the Are you signing up on behalf of a school by selecting the radio button "no" and then select continue.
10. It will say Welcome to Zoom and you fill in your first name, last name, a password (see stipulations of password in #11 below) and confirm password (the exact same thing) and write it down!!
11. Prepare a password with these stipulations;
Password must:
Have at least 8 characters
Have at least 1 letter (a, b, c...)
Have at least 1 number (1, 2, 3...)
Include both Upper case and Lower case characters
Password must NOT:
Contain only one character (11111111 or aaaaaaaa)
Contain only consecutive characters (12345678 or abcdefgh)
12. Select continue and you can put in emails of people you want to contact at some point or skip this step. You would use this if you want to host a meeting. Skip for now.
13. You will see a URL if you want to host a meeting but if you just want to join a meeting you can go to the top of the page and select "join a meeting."
14. Place the ID # that Linda Mooney sent you in her email and select join meeting.
Note: Once you signed up for Zoom it gets much easier. You simply go to the email Linda sent you and select the link below the words
JOIN ZOOM MEETING. Zoom will open automatically and you'll be set. Oh be sure you have a webcam. I prefer a laptop to do Zoom on.
